Yogyakarta hotel occupancy climbs to 61.8% in May 2026 amid long holiday period
Hotel room occupancy (TPK) in Yogyakarta rose sharply in May 2026, reaching 61.76% for starred hotels and 34.17% for non‑starred establishments. The increase of 6.40 percentage points month‑to‑month and 3.48 points year‑on‑year was driven by a series of consecutive public holidays that encouraged travel and overnight stays.
The Yogyakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) expects the upward trend to continue into June, as school vacations begin and further holiday clustering is anticipated. Officials note that the pattern mirrors previous years, when June typically sees higher occupancy than May.
The data highlights the renewed vigor of the local tourism sector following the post‑Eid period, with both leisure and family travel contributing to the surge.
