Yogyakarta intensifies electronic ID card services at high schools
The Yogyakarta City Government, through its Population and Civil Registration Office (Dindukcapil), is intensifying electronic ID card (KTP-el) data recording services at high schools and vocational schools (SMA/SMK) throughout September and October 2026.
This mobile service aims to facilitate access for first-time ID card holders aged 16 to 17. The process includes registration, facial photography, fingerprinting, signature capture, and iris scanning. Officials noted that while data recording can begin at age 16, the physical cards are printed once the individual reaches 17 years of age.
The initiative is designed to ensure that every citizen has a unique National Identification Number (NIK) and to prevent the duplication of identities. For students who have reached 17, the cards can be collected at the Yogyakarta Public Service Mall (MPP) or through a parent listed in the same family card.
