Yogyakarta travelers advised to plan ahead for carnival and rail services

Travelers in the Yogyakarta and Solo regions are advised to plan ahead due to major local events and scheduled transportation services. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 6 Yogyakarta has issued an advisory for passengers using Yogyakarta Station to arrive early on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. This recommendation follows potential traffic congestion caused by the Wayang Jogja Night Carnival (WJNC) 2026, celebrating the 270th anniversary of Yogyakarta, which involves road closures from Malioboro to Titik Nol Kilometer.

Various rail services remain operational to support regional mobility. The KRL Commuter Line between Solo and Yogyakarta provides multiple trips from Palur Station throughout the day. Additionally, the YIA Xpress airport train service operates 24 trips daily between Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) and Tugu Station, including stops at Wates Station, to facilitate travel for commuters and airline passengers.
