Yogyakarta officials promote river management and cultural development

Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Wawan Harmawan is promoting local community engagement through both environmental management and cultural development. During a 'Sambang Kampung' visit to Surokarsan, residents raised concerns regarding waste accumulation in the Code River. In response, the Deputy Mayor pledged to coordinate with the City Environmental Agency to reinstall trash barriers to filter waste from the river flow.

Additionally, following the conclusion of the fourth Festival Babad Siti Kemantren at Taman Budaya Embung Giwangan, Harmawan urged the 14 participating districts to continue exploring their unique cultural potentials. He emphasized that future festivals should expand through cross-departmental collaboration involving tourism, MSMEs, and trade sectors to maximize the economic and social impact of local heritage.
