Yogyakarta prepares LED screens for Wayang Jogja Night Carnival in Malioboro

The Yogyakarta City Government is preparing seven LED screens across the Malioboro area for the 2026 Wayang Jogja Night Carnival (WJNC), scheduled for October 7, 2026. This initiative aims to distribute the expected 60,000 spectators along the long Malioboro stretch, preventing overcrowding at the main display point at Titik Nol Kilometer.

The carnival, which celebrates the anniversary of Yogyakarta, will follow a route starting from the DIY DPRD building, displaying at Titik Nol Kilometer, and concluding through Jalan Senopati and Jalan KH Ahmad Dahlan. This marks a return to a major format after the event was held at Tugu Yogyakarta in 2024 and was not held in 2025.

To support the large crowd, the city is also providing medical posts, toilets, mosques, segregated waste bins, and designated parking areas. Authorities are coordinating with police and municipal security to ensure safety and health standards are maintained during the event.
