Yogyakarta police investigate alleged extortion of food truck operator

Authorities in Yogyakarta are investigating allegations of illegal levies and intimidation targeting a food truck business at Alun-Alun Kidul (Alkid). The business owner, Dyah Laily Fardisa, reported that she was initially asked for Rp12.5 million for five days of operation, which was later negotiated down to Rp1 million per day.

In addition to high parking fees, the owner alleged she was pressured to provide meals for local thugs and certain police members. Following the viral social media reports, Polresta Yogyakarta has deployed teams from the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) and the Internal Affairs Division (Propam) to conduct field verification and gather data regarding the alleged involvement of law enforcement officers.
