Yogyakarta police officer detained over alleged extortion of food truck

An officer from the Kraton Police Station, identified as Aipda S, has been placed in special detention (patsus) following allegations of illegal levies against the Bolosego food truck operator at Alun-Alun Kidul, Yogyakarta. The investigation by Propam Polresta Yogyakarta concluded that while two other officers were cleared of wrongdoing, Aipda S is a suspected violator. The allegations involved the officer requesting food portions from the business.

In addition to the internal police investigation, the Criminal Investigation Unit (Unit Reskrim) is looking into potential involvement by external parties, including parking attendants. The incident has gained significant public attention, including a wave of negative online reviews for the affected business.

Yogyakarta Mayor Hasto Wardoyo has addressed the incident, stating that extortion and thuggery will not be tolerated in the city. He emphasized the government's responsibility to maintain a safe and orderly environment and encouraged citizens to report any instances of extortion or blackmail through available official channels.
