Yoh Dai-kan holds retirement ceremony with Yomiuri Giants
Professional baseball player Yoh Dai-kan, 39, held a retirement ceremony following a farm league game between his current team, Oisix Niigata Swallows, and his former club, the Yomiuri Giants.
During the ceremony, Dai-kan expressed deep gratitude to the fans and the Giants organization for his five-year tenure with the team. He noted that while he may not have left behind extraordinary statistics, the support from fans allowed him to give his all during those years. He concluded his speech by stating, “I was truly happy. This was all thanks to everyone.”
In a surprise appearance, Yomiuri Giants acting manager Hideki Hashigami traveled from Nagoya to attend the event and present Dai-kan with a bouquet. Dai-kan recorded an infield hit in his final at-bat of the game, drawing applause from the crowd. After his playing career, which began with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in 2005, Dai-kan plans to reflect on his next steps in life.
