Riku Nishida promoted to Chicago White Sox Major League roster

Riku Nishida, an outfielder for the Chicago White Sox, has been promoted to the Major League roster. Nishida, who joined the organization via the 2023 draft after playing collegiate baseball in the United States, was called up to serve as a replacement for Andrew Benintendi, who has been placed on the bereavement list.

Nishida has shown strong performance in the minor leagues this season, maintaining a .288 batting average with 28 stolen bases across 97 games. He is expected to join teammate Munetaka Murakami as the White Sox compete in the American League Central division.

In a separate incident during a White Sox game against the Texas Rangers, Rangers designated hitter Joc Pederson was ejected from the game. The ejection occurred following a dispute regarding an Automatic Ball-Strike System (ABS) challenge that was denied by the umpire, leading to a confrontation from the dugout.
