Yoko Ono exhibition to open at Zagreb Museum of Contemporary Art

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb will host an exhibition titled ‘Yoko Ono: The Room of Your Own Making’ from December 10, 2026, to May 2, 2027. The exhibition aims to highlight Ono’s significant contributions to conceptual art, performance, and experimental film, moving beyond her public association with John Lennon.

The showcase will feature approximately fifty works across various media, including instructions, participatory works, films, music, photography, and installations. It will explore her involvement with the Fluxus movement and her early works, such as the instructional pieces found in her book ‘Grapefruit’.

Visitors can expect to see documentary records of early performances, such as the feminist-oriented ‘Cut Piece’, as well as sound recordings made with John Cage. The exhibition will also cover her pacifist engagements from the late 1960s to the early 1980s and her more recent focus on feminism, political activism, and collective memory.
