Yokohama Excellence launches paper cup upcycling initiative

Yokohama Excellence, a professional basketball club, has launched a new environmental initiative called ‘Light up for ECOcellence’. As part of this resource circulation project, the club is beginning full-scale testing of an upcycling process at its home game arenas.

Fans are encouraged to participate by using ‘eco-stations’ located within the arena. The process involves using a ‘Re-CUP WASHER’ to rinse used paper cups before placing them in designated collection boxes. The collected cups are intended to be transformed into new products.

To promote participation, the club is offering a campaign where attendees who assist with the washing and collection can receive limited-edition original trash bags on-site. Additionally, participants can enter a lottery via X (formerly Twitter) to win original club goods made from the recycled materials.
