Yokohama opens null²ⁿ immersive museum theater
The permanent museum theater null²ⁿ (Null-Null Nexus) opened on October 14, 2026, at the Yokohama Landmark Plaza. Produced by Yoichi Ochiai, the facility expands upon the concept of “Digital Nature” first showcased at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai signature pavilion, null².
The theater consists of five experiential areas designed to be explored over approximately 60 minutes. These areas include two LED theaters and a specialized “sound-only” room—described by Ochiai as a “cold water bath” to contrast with the intense visual experience of the LED theaters. The installation utilizes mirrors, sound, and light to blur the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds.
Visitors can use a dedicated app, “Mirrored Body®,” to link their digital avatars with the installations, allowing the art to change in real-time based on the individual. This project serves as a bridge between the 2025 Expo and the upcoming GREEN×EXPO 2027, where the next iteration, null⁴, is expected to debut.
