Yokozuna Dainosato faces Gionofuji on opening day of Nagoya sumo tournament

The Japan Sumo Association held a match‑making meeting for the Nagoya basho, set to begin on 12 July. Yokozuna Dainosato, returning after missing two tournaments due to left‑shoulder pain, is slated to meet New Komusubi Gionofuji on Day 1 and will face Fujinokawa on Day 2.

Dainosato’s recent joint training showed a strong recovery, highlighted by an 11‑win streak against top‑ranked opponents. The meeting also confirmed other first‑day contests, including Ozeki Toyoshoryu versus Oho (王鵬) and several western‑division match‑ups.
