Yola residents demand action over refuse blocking major roads

Residents of Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, are calling on Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to intervene in a growing sanitation crisis. Large heaps of refuse are lining major roads, most notably along the Jimeta-Modibbo Adama University road.

Local citizens report that the accumulated waste has obstructed vehicle lanes, leading to weekly traffic accidents. Residents have criticized the Ministry of Environment, alleging that officials are prioritizing the enforcement of laws against illegal political campaign posters over essential sanitation duties.

Some community members expressed frustration that while the government has taken legal action against political candidates for defacing public property, the accumulation of waste remains unaddressed, posing a significant risk to public safety and road usability.
