Yolanda Andrade discusses ALS diagnosis and life expectancy

Mexican presenter Yolanda Andrade has spoken publicly about her battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease. During a live broadcast with singer Thalía, Andrade revealed that a doctor once provided her with an estimated life expectancy of approximately one and a half years.

Andrade stated that she chose to face this prognosis with optimism, viewing the time as an opportunity to complete projects and spend time with loved ones. She expressed that while the diagnosis brought feelings of fear, anger, and frustration, the support from friends and the public has provided her with strength.

Thalía offered emotional support during the conversation, noting that medical prognoses are not definitive certainties. Additionally, Andrade’s sister, Marilé Andrade, has shared the emotional and physical toll of caregiving, highlighting the stress and weight of supporting a family member with a terminal illness.
