Yomiuri Giants interim manager Hashigami reports season end to owner

Hideki Hashigami, the interim manager of the Yomiuri Giants, met with owner Juichi Yamaguchi on October 13 to report on the conclusion of the season. The season was marked by significant instability following the sudden resignation of former manager Shinnosuke Abe in May.

Under Hashigami’s leadership as interim manager, the team achieved a record of 52 wins, 42 losses, and 3 draws. While the Giants remained in contention for the league title until the final games, they ultimately finished second, trailing Hanshin by 2.5 games. The team's postseason run ended prematurely following a two-game sweep by DeNA in the Climax Series First Stage.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the team's offensive struggles. Hashigami noted that the lack of home runs and slugging power was a critical issue identified by the owner and observed during the Climax Series. Hashigami described the past six months as a “turbulent” period and stated that his future plans with the organization remain undecided.
