NPB players perform in Phoenix League as Giants prepare for Climax Series

In the Miyazaki Phoenix League, Seibu Lions rookie Sowa Yokota continued his strong performance, recording two hits including a triple against the Yomiuri Giants. Yokota, who finished the farm league season as the central league batting champion with a .310 average, provided the Lions' only run in a 1-3 loss.

Giants developmental player Gen Murayama also showed progress, recording two hits and two RBIs. Murayama, who transitioned from a right-handed to a left-handed hitter following an elbow injury last year, expressed confidence in his improved batting power.

Meanwhile, the Yomiuri Giants are preparing for the Climax Series First Stage against DeNA at the Tokyo Dome. Following a second-place finish in the regular season, the team is focusing on their ability to secure early leads. Team insiders noted that while the Giants are resilient, maintaining a lead of at least four runs is critical, as the team has struggled to overcome deficits of that size during the season.
