Yongin Central Market to install AI digital signage
Yongin Special City has announced plans to install AI-based smart digital signage at Yongin Central Market to assist citizens and tourists. The project aims to help visitors easily locate shops, signature foods, ongoing events, and amenities such as restrooms.
Following selection for a government project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the city has secured 200 million KRW in national funding. By 2027, four digital signs will be installed at key locations throughout the market. The signage will feature the city’s mascot, ‘Joayong,’ and will utilize voice recognition technology to answer user inquiries.
To accommodate international visitors, the signs will provide multilingual support and translation services in English, Japanese, and Chinese. The city plans to collaborate with startups between September and December to implement the installation, with the goal of integrating the project into broader smart city regeneration efforts.
