Yongin City expands accessible reading materials for disabled and elderly citizens

Yongin Special City has secured an additional 1,210 alternative reading materials to improve accessibility for citizens with visual impairments, low vision, and the elderly. This expansion was achieved through selection in book supply support programs hosted by the Korean Library Association and the National Library for the Disabled.

The new collection includes 190 large-print books for low-vision readers and the elderly, as well as 1,020 braille-labeled books specifically for visually impaired children.

When combined with 2,875 books purchased through the city's own budget this year, the total inventory of alternative materials in Yongin's public libraries will rise to approximately 42,800 volumes, marking a 10% increase from the previous year's 38,800 volumes. The city plans to distribute these materials across public library spaces to ensure convenient access for all residents.
