South Korean regions launch Chuseok holiday market promotions
Various South Korean municipalities and regions are launching promotional events and discount programs at traditional markets to support local commerce ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
In Gangnam-gu, Seoul, four major markets—Dogok, Gangnam Gaepo, Yeoksam-dong, and Yeongdong—will host events from September 17 to 21. These include discounts of up to 30% on ritual items, Onnuri gift certificate refunds, and same-day delivery services. Additionally, the district will issue 39.5 billion won worth of Gangnam Love Gift Certificates with a 5% purchase discount and a 5% cashback benefit.
Sejong Special Self-Governing City is organizing an SNS-based shopping event at Sejong Traditional Market from September 14 to 23, alongside a refund program for agricultural and marine products where customers can receive up to 40,000 won in Onnuri gift certificates based on their purchase amounts.
Yongin Special City is also expanding market access for local farmers by showcasing regional agricultural products at festivals in Seoul and special exhibitions at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, aiming to secure new consumer bases for local brands like ‘Yongin Pamijoa-yong’.
