Yongin road improvement project passes feasibility study

The improvement project for Local Road 57 (Wonsam to Mapyeong) in Yongin has passed the preliminary feasibility study conducted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The project aims to improve the 12.3km section connecting the Yongin Art and Science University intersection to the Wonsam-myeon Yongin Semiconductor Cluster, facilitating smoother transport to the industrial complex where SK hynix is investing heavily.

A key component of the 221.9 billion won project is the construction of a 2.88km tunnel through Gopdeung Pass to replace steep and narrow road sections that pose high accident risks. The plan also includes installing pedestrian walkways and dedicated left-turn lanes to enhance safety and traffic flow.

Additionally, the expansion project for Local Road 23 (Anseong Daedeok to Yongin Namsa) also passed the feasibility study. This project will expand a 1.7km bottleneck section into a four-lane road, helping to manage increasing traffic demand near the Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster National Industrial Complex and improving connectivity between southern Gyeonggi municipalities.
