Yongin semiconductor hub infrastructure: National Route 45 expansion begins

The expansion of National Route 45, a critical infrastructure project passing through the Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex, has entered the bidding stage. The Seoul Regional Office of Construction and Management recently announced a turnkey (design-build) bid for the 12.53 km section stretching from the Daechon intersection in Cheoin-gu to the Jangseo intersection in Yangseong-myeon, Anseong.

The project involves an investment of 891.1 billion won to expand the existing four lanes to a maximum of six to eight lanes. This expansion is intended to accommodate the projected increase in traffic volume resulting from the development of the semiconductor cluster and the Yongin Idong Public Housing District.

Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il noted that the commencement of this project signifies progress for the national industrial complex despite opposition from certain groups. He emphasized that because speed is vital to the semiconductor industry, infrastructure development must keep pace with production facility construction to maintain competitiveness against global rivals.
