Yongin Special City announces urban renewal plans for four aging districts

Yongin Special City has announced a public inspection period for residential environment improvement plans covering four aging urban areas. The inspection, which runs until October 3, targets the Gimnyangjang 1, Mapyeong 2, and Gorim 2 districts in Cheoin-gu, as well as the Mabuk 1 district in Giheung-gu, totaling approximately 131,398 square meters.

Rather than full demolition, the project utilizes a local improvement model designed to maintain existing village structures while upgrading essential infrastructure. Key planned improvements include the renovation of roads and walkways, the creation of public parking lots, replacement of aging water and sewage pipes, and the expansion of security measures such as CCTV and streetlights. The city also plans to develop community facilities.

In addition to these urban renewal efforts, the city is conducting environmental maintenance across 350 urban parks ahead of the Chuseok holiday. This includes weeding, removing vines, repairing walking paths, and fixing damaged facilities to ensure safe and pleasant spaces for citizens during the holiday period.
