Yongin Special City Council opens 306th regular session
The Yongin Special City Council has commenced its 306th regular session, which is scheduled to run for 17 days until October 18. During the session, the council aims to process 32 items, including 12 ordinances, 12 consent motions, and various budget and settlement reports.
During the opening session, Council Member Park Eun-sun raised concerns regarding the poor sanitary working conditions of approximately 230 contract park maintenance workers. Park noted that while the city has provided clothing and rest areas, it lacks essential washing and hygiene facilities for workers who handle waste and outdoor maintenance. She requested a comprehensive inspection of facilities and the integration of hygiene spaces into the design of new parks.
Additionally, Council Member Oh Su-jeong addressed regional imbalances in cultural and welfare facilities for children and youth. Specifically, she highlighted a lack of public libraries and youth centers in the Giheung-dong area, urging the city to expand infrastructure to ensure equitable access to cultural opportunities regardless of location.
