Yongin Special City proposes administrative expansion and new departments

Yongin Special City has announced a legislative notice for an organizational restructuring plan aimed at addressing increasing administrative demands. The proposal includes the creation of two new departments and 39 new teams, which will increase the total number of public officials by 131, bringing the workforce from 3,474 to 3,605.

A primary focus of the reorganization is the expansion of welfare administration. Twenty of the new teams will be established within local community centers across Cheoin-gu, Giheung-gu, and Suji-gu to provide customized welfare services and health management. Additionally, new teams will be formed to handle child abuse response, care support, and library operations.

The plan also strengthens departments related to development, roads, and artificial intelligence. New teams will be established to manage advanced industry permits, construction safety, and road facilities. The AI Smart Strategy Department will also be updated with a new AI Strategy Team. The city plans to submit the relevant ordinance to the City Council in November 2024, with the restructured organization expected to be operational by January 2027.
