Yongin Special City to renovate roads near Suji High School
Yongin Special City has announced a road and intersection improvement project near Suji High School in Pungdeokcheon-dong to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance pedestrian safety. The project, which involves two specific locations including a roundabout at 1190 Pungdeokcheon-dong, is scheduled for completion by October.
With a total budget of 550 million won, the city plans to optimize existing road structures rather than expanding them to save time and costs. Key improvements include replacing an outdated oval-shaped traffic island with a circular one to improve vehicle flow and reduce bottlenecks. Additionally, the width of the four-lane road near the school will be increased by 6 meters, new right-turn lanes will be established, and the road will be restructured to allow U-turns.
To prioritize student safety, the city will also install new crosswalks tailored to student movement patterns. Officials expect these changes to improve traffic flow not only around the school but also near the Dongcheon Tunnel, providing a safer environment for students and local residents.
