Yongin Special City wins award for vehicle seizure tax collection system
Yongin Special City has received an Excellence Award at the 2026 Gyeonggi Province Non-Tax Revenue Research Presentation Contest. The award recognizes the city's successful implementation of a systematic management system for long-term seized vehicles to improve tax delinquency collection.
Jeon Hyo-gyeong, an official from the city's collection department, presented the case study titled ‘From Stagnant Seized Vehicles to Moving Collection Results!’. The policy moved beyond simple vehicle seizure by establishing a four-stage management process: target selection, preliminary investigation, delivery orders, and on-site measures.
Through this initiative, the city targeted 104 delinquents with unpaid amounts totaling approximately 108.79 million won in the first half of this year. This resulted in the collection of 59.63 million won from 66 individuals, achieving a 55% collection rate by value. Notably, on-site measures, such as installing shackles on vehicles, led to five full payments and one installment plan.
