Yonkers man charged with murder in fatal stabbing of father

Rami Ahmad, 31, has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing in Yonkers, New York.

On the morning of September 28, 2026, Yonkers Police responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Smart Avenue. Officers and medical personnel attempted to provide aid, including CPR, to 61-year-old Hekmat Ahmad before he was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that the victim was attacked by a family member inside his home. Rami Ahmad fled the scene but was later located by police near Kingston Avenue and Palmer Road. He was taken into custody without incident, and a folding knife was recovered from his person. The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
