Yoo Seung-min urges parliamentary probe of Samsung‑Hynix leverage ETF scandal

Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung‑min criticized the government’s role in promoting the Samsung‑Hynix single‑stock leverage exchange‑traded fund (ETF), saying the responsibility lies with the Blue House. He condemned President Lee Jae‑myung’s comment to Financial Services Commission head Lee Chan‑jin that the regulator was “suffering a lot” as inadequate, and called the regulator’s later apology “irresponsible”.

Yoo demanded an immediate parliamentary investigation to determine who introduced the high‑risk product and why, and also raised allegations that the National Pension Service’s recent shift in domestic‑stock weighting may have been used to prop up stock prices and defend the won. He warned that many retail investors (“ants”) have been driven into financial loss and called for accountability before the market can be restored.
