Yopal authorities launch plan to combat dengue outbreak
Health authorities in Yopal have activated an institutional and community intervention plan to contain a dengue outbreak in the city. According to the Epidemiological Surveillance bulletin, the capital of Casanare has recorded 576 notified cases as of epidemiological week 32 of 2026, representing a 51.57% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Data indicates that men account for 51.2% of the cases. Health officials have identified children as the most vulnerable group, specifically those between 6 and 10 years old. To date, two cases have required high-complexity hospital care at the Hospital Regional de la Orinoquía (HORO).
Nicasio Mariño, the Secretary of Health of Yopal, emphasized the need for citizens to follow proper medical routes and avoid self-medication. Warning signs include high fever above 38°C, severe abdominal pain, frequent vomiting, and bleeding from the gums, nose, or urine.
