Yopal residents protest assault on two minors

Protesters and caregivers in Yopal held a demonstration in front of the Fiscalía General de la Nación to demand justice following a violent assault on two minors. The victims, aged 12 and 17, reportedly suffered injuries requiring 14 days of medical leave.

The 12-year-old victim has a diagnosis of autism and was allegedly beaten and bitten during the incident. His 17-year-old sister was also assaulted while attempting to protect him. The family has accused the National Police of irregularities, noting that while three adults were identified as suspects, only one was detained.

Furthermore, the family alleged that the 17-year-old victim was detained and faced restrictions on contact with her support system, causing significant psychological impact. The mother has called for urgent intervention from the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), the Police of Children and Adolescents, and the Ombudsman's Office.
