Yopougon to host Côte d'Ivoire's 66th Independence celebrations with anthem and parade float

Nine prominent Ivorian musicians recorded an official anthem for the 66th anniversary of Côte d'Ivoire's independence, a project launched by Léopoldine Kochi and arranged by Koudou Athanase. The song aims to promote national cohesion and will be aired on media platforms and at public events beyond the 7 August ceremony.

Deputy‑Mayor Adama Bictogo presented the design of Yopougon’s parade float, created by choreographer George Momboye. The float, titled “Côte d’Ivoire in miniature,” will feature two sequences: one honoring the historic Ebrié people with traditional symbols, and another illustrating the country’s cultural diversity and daily life. It will also showcase six key agricultural products—cocoa, coffee, cotton, cashew, banana and palm oil—linked to their main production regions. The official independence festivities are scheduled for 7 August in Yopougon, marking the first time this Abidjan commune hosts the national celebration.
