York and North Yorkshire community funds announced for wellbeing
Community organizations in York and North Yorkshire are receiving significant funding to support local wellbeing and activity.
The City of York Council has opened applications for its ‘Good Place, Warm Place Fund,’ offering up to £5,000 per organization from a £40,000 pool. The initiative aims to establish warm, inclusive spaces to help residents combat social isolation and the cost of living during winter months. Eligible venues must remain open for at least two hours weekly.
Additionally, Mayor David Skaith’s ‘Movement, Activity and Sport Fund’ has awarded nearly £900,000 to 60 new projects across York and North Yorkshire. This second round of funding supports grassroots initiatives, including new outdoor fitness facilities, village hall improvements, and inclusive sporting events designed to benefit disabled residents, families in deprived areas, and rural communities.
