York community issues regarding anti-social behaviour and parking

Local officials and residents in the York area are addressing several community concerns. In the Acomb suburb, councillors are calling for increased police powers and the potential implementation of public space protection orders (PSPOs) to combat rising anti-social behaviour. Residents have reported incidents of street drinking and groups of teenagers causing chaos, which local businesses claim is deterring customers from visiting Front Street.

In the village of Naburn, a decision has been made to introduce double yellow lines on Front Street near the York Road junction. The move aims to address safety concerns regarding narrow passages and obstructed access for emergency vehicles, though some residents fear the restrictions will exacerbate parking shortages and increase vehicle speeds.
