York hosts environment festival and museum Christmas celebrations

The York Environment Festival is currently underway, offering a variety of activities including river trails, gardening groups, and eco-crafting sessions. Running until November 1, the volunteer-led event aims to promote climate action and sustainability through community engagement. The festival is funded by the Two Ridings Community Foundation and the City of York Council’s Community Fund.

Separately, the York Castle Museum has announced its 2026 Christmas season, scheduled from November 14, 2026, to January 3, 2027. The museum will feature Victorian-era holiday displays, including festive decorations on Kirkgate and historical dining room feasts. The program includes one-man performances of ‘A Christmas Carol’ and musical tributes spanning various decades.
