York Valkyrie end Wigan Warriors' unbeaten run in Women's Super League

York Valkyrie ended the Wigan Warriors' unbeaten streak in the Women’s Super League with a 26-12 victory at the LNER Community Stadium. The win secures York a place in the play-off semi-finals, where they are scheduled to face Leeds Rhinos at Headingley.

Wigan, who had won 17 consecutive matches and secured four trophies this year, including the Challenge Cup and the League Leaders Shield, suffered their first defeat since August of the previous year. Despite an early lead by Wigan through Mary Coleman, York responded with rapid scoring, including tries from Monique Donovan, Eboni Partington, and Liv Wood.

The result also concludes the season for St Helens, who missed out on the play-offs despite a recent win over Leeds. The loss marks the final games for St Helens players Jodie Cunningham and Emily Rudge, both of whom are retiring at the end of the season.
