Yorkshire and Lancashire police crackdown on drink‑driving arrests

South Yorkshire Police released body‑camera footage showing a female driver in Doncaster refuse to accept her breath‑alyser result of 90 mcg, nearly three times the legal limit, before being arrested on suspicion of drink‑driving and child neglect. In total, five drivers were stopped that night, all testing over the 35 mcg limit, with four charged for unsafe driving.

Lancashire Constabulary reported that a man told officers "I don't wanna" when asked to provide a breath sample, and highlighted that 53 people were arrested in the county over the previous week for drink or drug driving. The highest reading recorded was 143 mcg, more than four times the legal limit, involving a nurse, a cleaner and a welder among the offenders.
