Yorkshire Cricket and UrbanChain partner for renewable energy

Yorkshire County Cricket Club has entered into an exclusive commercial partnership with clean energy technology firm UrbanChain. Under the agreement, the Headingley cricket ground will be powered by 100% renewable energy starting January 1, 2027.

UrbanChain, a Manchester-based company, utilizes an Ofgem-licensed platform to connect renewable energy generators with buyers. The partnership is part of the club’s ‘Chasing Glory’ strategy, a ten-year plan aimed at securing a sustainable future for the organization. The club intends to increase its use of energy generated specifically within the county of Yorkshire in the coming years.
