Yorkshire housing developments expand with new affordable home projects

Several housing developments are progressing in Yorkshire, supported by various grants and partnerships. In North Halifax, housebuilder Keepmoat has launched a £35 million transformation of a brownfield site in Illingworth. The project, involving Calderdale Council and Homes England, will deliver 192 new homes, including 44 properties for affordable rent and shared ownership through a social housing provider. The development includes £1.1 million in contributions for schools, public transport, and environmental improvements, aided by a £5.3 million grant from Homes England.

In Leeds, the Leeds Jewish Housing Association (LJHA) has completed the second phase of a development on the Queenshill estate. This phase adds 28 affordable properties for families, consisting of two-bed and three-bed homes and apartments. This follows a 2022 phase that delivered 85 sheltered and general-needs apartments. The total project replaces older 1950s housing with 113 modern properties, part-funded by Homes England.
