Yorkshire parks win Green Flag awards, expanding free family outings

Five North Yorkshire parks – Falsgrave Park, Peasholm Park, South Cliff Gardens, Glen and Crescent Gardens, and Pannett Park – have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag, recognising them as some of the best‑kept green spaces in the country. South Cliff Gardens and Pannett Park also received Green Heritage Site accreditation for their historic preservation. Council executive Malcolm Taylor praised the work of park staff and community volunteers, while Friends of South Cliff Gardens chair Adrian Perry highlighted support from the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

Yorkshire also offers a wide range of free attractions for families during the summer holidays, including Roundhay Park in Leeds, the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, Leeds City Museum, and Ogden Water Country Park in Halifax. These venues provide playgrounds, museums, nature trails and other activities at no cost, encouraging residents and visitors to enjoy the region’s cultural and natural assets.
