Yorkshire Wildlife Park man dies in tiger enclosure attack

A man has died following a tiger attack at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster, England. The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 1:35 p.m. in the ‘Land of the Tigers’ enclosure, which houses endangered Amur tigers.

According to South Yorkshire Police, the man reportedly entered the enclosure, leading to a fatal attack. Emergency services, including ground ambulances and a medical helicopter, responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the site. Witnesses reported hearing loud bangs or shots fired during the incident, which may have been intended to deter the animal.

The park was immediately evacuated and has remained closed through the weekend to facilitate investigations. Authorities have confirmed that the tiger involved, identified in some reports as Altai, was uninjured and remained within its enclosure, posing no further risk to the public. The police are investigating the exact circumstances of how the man gained access to the restricted area and have urged the public not to share distressing footage of the event circulating on social media.
