Yorktown football star Christopher Wilson Jr. killed in Muncie shooting

Christopher Wilson Jr., a 17-year-old senior at Yorktown High School, was fatally shot early Monday morning in Muncie, Indiana. Police responded to the 1400 block of East Cromer Avenue just before 3:00 a.m., where they found Wilson dead in a vehicle after he had been shot multiple times.

Wilson was a highly regarded defensive end and a four-star recruit. He had recently committed to play college football for West Virginia University, choosing the program over offers from Auburn, Cincinnati, and Purdue. Last season, he helped lead Yorktown to a 9-3 record and a Class 4A sectional championship.

Yorktown Community Schools issued a statement expressing sadness and confirming that Wilson was a valued member of the school and community. While the Muncie Police Department is leading the investigation, Yorktown Police stated there is no ongoing threat to students or schools. As of Monday, no suspect or motive has been identified.
