Yoshihiro Takahashi art book to celebrate 55-year career

Nihon Bungeisha has announced the release of a commemorative art book, ‘Yoshihiro Takahashi: The World of Dog Manga’, scheduled for September 18, 2026. The publication celebrates the 55th anniversary of manga artist Yoshihiro Takahashi’s career and the 50th anniversary of his seminal work, ‘Shiroi Senshi Yamato’.

The collection serves as a comprehensive retrospective of the ‘dog manga’ genre established by Takahashi, featuring high-definition color reproductions of original manuscripts and artwork from his famous ‘Ginga’ series and other works. The book includes personal commentary from Takahashi on his entire body of work, interviews with prominent manga artists such as Tetsuo Hara and Hiroshi Motomiya, and a technical guide on depicting canine movement and expression.

In addition to the book, several commemorative events are planned, including a signing session at Shosen Grande on September 19, 2026, and a pop-up store in Harajuku running from October 10 to October 12, 2026. The book will also feature the previously unreleased one-shot manga ‘Ginga Retsuden: Ganin’.
