Yosuke Suzuki of CFCL wins 44th Mainichi Fashion Award

The Mainichi Newspaper has announced the winners of the 44th Mainichi Fashion Awards. Yosuke Suzuki, representative and creative director of CFCL, received the Grand Prize. Suzuki, a former designer for Issey Miyake Men, was recognized for expanding the possibilities of knitwear through high design, functionality, and a sustainable approach that integrates manufacturing, sales, and circulation.

Terumichi Nakajima, designer of the brand TELMA, was awarded the Newcomer Award and the Shiseido Encouragement Award. Nakajima was praised for his dedication to craftsmanship, including yarn production and fabric development, while blending traditional Japanese techniques with modern print technology.

The Kujiraoka Amiko Award, honoring long-term contributions to the industry, was presented to Beams President Yo Shidara and the late Tomoko Komuro, who served as Vice President of Miyake Design Studio. Additionally, Descente’s Shin-Mizusawa Factory received the Topic Award for its role in producing high-performance Mizusawa Down products and its recent 3 billion yen facility upgrade.
