YOU. ON and HyperStrong partner for Brazil battery auctions

YOU. ON Energia and HyperStrong International USA Corp. have signed a binding agreement to jointly participate in Brazil’s 2026 Battery Energy Storage Capacity Reserve Auctions (LRCAP 2026). The partnership aims to combine HyperStrong’s battery energy storage system (BESS) technology with YOU. ON’s local engineering, technical assistance, and service capabilities to compete for large-scale storage projects in the country.

In related regulatory developments, the Federal Prosecutor's Office at the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) has deemed it legally permissible to differentiate the costs associated with batteries in capacity reserve auctions. The proposal suggests allocating these costs among generators based on their level of flexibility, with participation rates potentially ranging from 25% to 100% of the unit cost.

Additionally, ANEEL has opened a public consultation to refine the operational classification of power plants within the National Interconnected System (SIN) and has approved the first revision of its Regulatory Agenda for the 2026-2027 biennium.
