YouGov poll projects hung parliament and Labour decline in Wales
A new YouGov MRP poll projects a hung parliament in the United Kingdom if a general election were held immediately. The Labour Party is expected to be the largest party with 241 seats, showing a recovery compared to previous modeling, though it would fall short of a majority.
In Wales, the projections suggest a significant decline for Labour, which could be left with only two MPs: Tonia Antoniazzi in Gower and a representative in Cardiff East. The model predicts Plaid Cymru would win 15 seats and Reform UK would win 14. This would represent Labour’s worst Westminster result in Wales since 1906.
In London, Labour is projected to win 51 of the capital’s 75 seats. While the Green Party is not expected to win any seats in the city, they are noted to be coming in second in 31 constituencies. The Conservative Party is projected to regain six seats, while Reform UK is expected to gain several seats from both the Conservatives and Labour.
