Young Africans SC secures friendly win and sees 12 players called to national teams
Young Africans SC (Yanga) recently secured a 1-0 friendly victory against Ethiopia’s St George at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Despite the win and dominant ball possession, assistant coach Simo Dladla noted that the team must improve its finishing in the final third to prepare for upcoming high-stakes fixtures, including the Kariakoo Derby against Simba SC and the CAF Champions League.
In addition to club preparations, Yanga is seeing significant international recognition, with 12 players called up to represent their respective national teams during the FIFA international window. Tanzanian players such as Dickson Job, Ibrahim Bacca, Mudathir Yahya, and Clement Mzize have been selected for the Taifa Stars. International stars including Djigui Diarra for Mali and Stephane Aziz Ki for Burkina Faso have also been called up. While the absences pose a challenge for head coach Manqoba Mngqithi’s training schedule, the club expects the players to return with enhanced international experience.
