Young bear spotted in Enego, Italy

A young bear was filmed by a motorist crossing Provincial Road 76 Valgadena in Enego, on the Seven Communities Plateau. The Vicenza Provincial Police confirmed the sighting and have initiated biological sample collection to identify the animal through DNA analysis.

Authorities are reviewing existing camera trap footage and plan to install new traps to monitor the bear's movements. Experts note that as winter approaches, the bear is likely searching for a quiet location to establish a den for hibernation. During this period, bears can travel distances of 30 to 40 kilometers in a single night.

Andrea Nardin, President of the Province of Vicenza, stated that the presence of bears in the area is normal, as they often use the mountains as transit routes toward Trentino or Belluno. He urged citizens to remain calm but cautious, advising against approaching or chasing the animal to avoid causing distress.
