Young professionals face debt and real estate losses
Young professionals in Vietnam and China are facing significant financial strain due to real estate losses and mounting debt.
In Vietnam, a young couple born in 1997 is considering selling their car to settle a 600 million VND debt. After experiencing losses in real estate and stock market investments, the couple, who also carry a mortgage for a home purchased for approximately 2 billion VND, is struggling to balance childcare costs and rising work pressure.
In China, a 28-year-old woman in Hangzhou reported selling her apartment at a loss of approximately 500,000 yuan (1.9 billion VND) to escape financial pressure. After a failed entrepreneurial venture left her with significant loans and a reduction in income, she chose to return to renting to regain financial control and flexibility.
