Young woman dies of sudden cardiac arrest after job interview

A 24-year-old woman, identified by the surname Liu, passed away following a sudden cardiac arrest on the same day she attended a job interview in May. According to Chinese media reports, she had experienced warning symptoms for two days prior, including chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, and vision blackouts, which she did not adequately address.

Medical professionals suspect the cause may be acute myocarditis, a condition that can rapidly impair heart function and cause dangerous arrhythmias, particularly following a recent history of a common cold. Upon hospitalization, her condition was so severe that doctors were unable to perform coronary angiography. While the timing of the interview and her recent cold are noted, medical experts caution that these are not definitive causes and that a precise determination requires a full review of medical records.

Doctors noted that sudden cardiac arrest in young people typically stems from two categories: underlying or congenital cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or coronary artery malformations, and triggering factors. These triggers include prolonged sleep deprivation, overwork, mental stress, or excessive stimulation, which can trigger dangerous arrhythmias in individuals with pre-existing heart conditions.
